Galway Girl: My Adventures Through The City

As most of you know, Ed Sheeran’s new video ‘Galway Girl’ was released, and little did I know the ending shot would be this exact area. I was only there last week. Strange to think Saoirse Ronan and Ed Sheeran were only miles away from me, so near yet so far. Oh well. So, I decided to share this picture with you, only because I felt the timing was perfect.

Galway itself is beautiful. Whatever you come across, whether it be a desolate street, a row of abandoned houses, the choppy water of the sea, it always manages to reflect a certain sense of beauty. I am actually glad I was born in this eccentric city, for I am, quite literally, a ‘Galway Girl’. How funny.

Anyway, I have decided to post many more photos of the city, as I had never had the chance to photograph Galway, only my hometown. So, perhaps I will plan more trips into the city, and wander through the sea of people with my camera at the ready.

As I discussed in my last post, this was a destination my Granddad would often bring me to. It was our little area, well at least I think so. The water was always sparkling, dazzling the locals. People would perch by Spanish Arch, sprawled out on the grass, no sun cream in sight. I’m appreciative of the fact that my Granddad would bring me to places I had never seen before. Now, I can go back and visit these little destinations, with an open mind and new eyes. I can venture to them without feeling upset, for I know he would love that I am finally photographing them. I cannot wait to go back to the city again, especially if the weather keeps up the good work.

It’s shocking, really, that I am enjoying the sun. Never in my life, did I expect to enjoy Summer. Well, the beginning of Summer. Or just heat, in general. I don’t know what’s happening to me. The sun seems to have thawed the coldness out of me, I no longer crave the cold. Well, knowing me, the minute Winter arrives, I’ll be out enjoying myself, wrapped up head to toe in winter gear, a goofy smile plastered across my face. Honestly, I never cease to amaze me.

Do I ever not ramble?
