Here’s another shot from a recent Photo shoot! I shall be posting a lot of about it, so bear with me! The photo shoot was completely organized by the one and only, Sophie Frawley. The location and jewelry were provided by Lily Jewellery & Accessories based in Loughrea, and last but certainly not least, modeled by Amelia Comerford. (If you want to know more about the photo shoot, check out my last two posts, where I discussed everything in detail!)
I’m sorry (not even sorry), but this is a beautiful shot, and I find it hard to believe that I took it. It’s kind of surprising me how, over the past few months, I’m progressing as a photographer. Believing in both myself and my work is pivotal, and something I hope to continue to do.
I know I have stated recently that I absolutely adore capturing smiles, but there’s just something about photographing a person’s eyes. The eyes are, after all, the windows to the soul. They hold so much. As a photographer, I am beginning to learn of the beauty of the face, the beauty of each individual feature, and how it can stand out. Eyes tell stories, they sparkle amid happiness, tear up amid sadness. Every little thing is reflected in the eyes. What lies behind can be a mystery. Secrets may lay within, worries, doubts, even fears. We tend to forget that the eyes are the most emotionally enriched feature of ourselves. Yes, you can hide the entirety of what you feel, but the eyes never lie. I have become attuned with people. I have developed a way of seeing who they truly are. I feel as if this is what makes me different. I don’t want to just take a random picture, I want it to have meaning, to have character, to have life. Yes, you might think this is utter bulls**t, but it’s what I feel. As a photographer, I look for the person or model’s character. Within a photo, lies a persona that is visible through the eyes. Never mind the colour of the eyes, it’s what lies beneath the shining exterior that speaks the most, the words or emotions that are riddled between the freckles or the different shades. Humans don’t share the same eye colour. Yes, they are a variety of blues, greens, browns, etc, but each of us holds a unique colour, a unique sparkle that portrays our soul. The eyes are terribly honest, they contradict the mouth entirely. If a lie mutters from your lips, your eyes will reveal the truth. It’s quite extraordinary, when you really think about it, what lies within the human eye.
There’s just something about eyes, that is truly breath-taking. Okay, enough of this tangent. I hope you enjoy the photograph, and understand my madness. (If you don’t, I can’t say I blame you.)
Happy Thursday! (Counting down the seconds until it’s Friday.)
‘The eyes tell more than words could ever say.’
