I keep my promises, so here’s another shot from a fabulous photo shoot, entirely orchestrated and styled by Sophie Frawley, modeled by Amelia Comerford, and Jewelry and location provided by Lily Jewellery & Accesories. So, on with the show. This particular shot I took before we were setting up the scene. The idea was to have her looking in the mirror, as my sister Sophie, was inspired by a beautiful image of Sienna Miller she encountered, photographed in a fashion magazine (don’t ask which one, I cannot even remember). So, whilst Edel (shop owner) and Sophie Frawley (stylist) were sorting out the jewelry, I felt the sudden urge to just photograph Amelia whilst she was checking her make up. Of course, I didn’t expect it to result in such a beautiful and striking image, if I do say so myself.
Once I saw the result, I was instantly reminded of a photograph of Marilyn Monroe. Yes, I am aware that it is not an exact replica, but it reminds me of an image I loved from years ago. Both images share a similar idea, the simple notion of fixing one’s makeup. This image is essentially inspired by Marilyn Monroe. There’s just something about Black & White Images. They somehow manage to enhance every single detail beautifully. It adds more depth. It causes you to wonder, what lies beneath the monochrome surface? What colours are hidden by this spectacular black and white mask? Black & White photography is something I really want to dabble in more, as it has always excited me.
Getting the chance to be booked to photograph in a professional environment, is something I shall never forget. I’m very grateful for this opportunity. The entire session was just filled with laughter, smiles and the odd giggle. It was a glorious evening, that reassured me that my doubts are pointless and entirely unnecessary. I suppose I somehow will always doubt my work, but I refuse to ever doubt my capability as a photographer. I’m just beginning my journey, and I cannot wait for what lies ahead. Who knows, maybe I’ll be doing a lot more fashion photo shoots in the near future. Fingers crossed.
I’ll be posting more of the photographs from this photo shoot for the next week, as I am hugely proud of how they turned out, and really want to show them to you all. So expect a lot of quotes, artsy fartsy tangents, and many ramblings that will include a bit of sarcasm (a lot).
Stay tuned, folks!
