So, as promised, another photo from the GTI College Fashion Showcase in Galway. I promise, there are pictures with colour, I just really like the Black & White ones.
The Fashion Show itself was amazing. I felt so comfortable running alongside all of the models, even in high heeled boots (note to self, wear flat shoes in the future). It was a long enough walk, but totally worth it. The sheer idea of showcasing a Fashion Show through the streets of Galway was genius. Locals and tourists were absolutely stunned. For tourists, it was a great surprise, as they witnessed first hand, a Fashion Show that was nothing but original. It was a great opportunity for them to document it, and show to their friends and families once they returned home. Perhaps, a day they’ll never forget.
All of the models blew my mind. Their poses and walks were outstanding. They did the Fashion students proud. This model in particular, wore the most intricate design, in my opinion. The designer’s work was incredible, and really stood out. She was immensely talented. She sewed, individually, bottle caps into the flowing black skirt. It was so colourful. This picture stood out to me. As I captured her enjoying the moment, having a laugh with her fellow models, I continued photographing her. As photographers circled around them (me included), she evidently relished it. Her smile speaks volumes. Yes, the rest of my photos are fashion focused, but this one showed the beauty of a person, surrounded by friends and colleagues, celebrating with a chuckle. They all worked unbelievably hard, and I felt it was important, to not only capture their fashion designs, but also their soulful smiles.
I was in the zone for the rest of the showcase. Nothing could stop me, not even my high heeled boots. Sometimes I find that I can be quite shy with my camera, but this day in particular, I didn’t care. I knew what I wanted, and how to get the shot. I didn’t hesitate running through the streets, as onlookers watched. I didn’t hesitate at all. All I was focused on was my camera, and the result I wanted. I suppose, that means I’m progressing as a Photographer, and that is an incredible achievement. I’m proud of how well this is going.
